He describes it very well and provides "very helpful advise" to make any backpacking/camping trip a fun & safe adventure. Rookies and old-timers of the trail will like this book. Since I'm the author's wife, I figured I'd better rate the book well. (But, don't tell him that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, because we don't want him to be too proud of himself.)
This is a great book for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Mick keeps you interested and entertained with his adventures.
Very informational book! Covers all the basics thoroughly for anyone who wants to get started backpacking and exploring the beauty around us. I also enjoyed all the funny stories he includes throughout the book. Wonderfully written!
very funny & down to earth information especially for folks who aren't the expert outdoors person, God gave us legs & a beautiful world in which to wander,city or country , just get out & do it!!! But not by yourself
Very much enjoyed the book. Author has a very personable style, like you are sitting around a campfire sharing experiences. It has inspired me to begin slowly with some day hikes (like when I was a kid), but eventually make a trek into the back country of a few days duration. It is never too late to take on a new love for nature and the outdoors...way outdoors.
Proviso I know the author personally (over 15 years) as a business colleague but especially as a friend. This book reflects the author exactly transparent and practical. If you have any thought of going hiking anywhere in America's back country buy this book and become prepared. Your monetary investment will be returned numerous times over by following the commonsense guidelines offered by Mick. Happy trails.
I probably have logged as many miles and seen as much wilderness as the author. However, I am always looking for any outdoor related information that can help me have a better outdoor experience. And I think that Mr. Tune has done a good job of imparting his outdoor knowledge through his book. Good job!
